Comfort Guide
Shallow or deep? Low or high? We help you match your unique sense of comfort to the perfect seating collection.
Explore More- How do I make sure that my new furniture will fit through the doorways, halls and stairwells inside my home? First, double check all of the dimensions of your new furniture. Next, measure your destination room as well as the height, width and diagonal depth of every area that the furniture must pass through – including doorways, halls and stairwells. Finally, compare the dimensions of the furniture with the measurements along your delivery path. The height, width or depth of your furniture must be less than any of your home measurements – preferably by several inches. For more details, see Bring It Home: Learn How to Measure For a Hassle-Free Furniture Delivery.
- What is the difference between the truck delivery options? For Threshold Delivery, items are unloaded by the driver and placed inside the first-floor doorway, garage or covered area. With our In-Home Delivery, the item will be brought inside your home, unpacked, and placed in its final destination - and all packaging materials will be removed. For most items, the delivery option is fixed due to the size and weight. However, if multiple options are available, you will be able to make that selection at checkout. For more information, click here.
- Are any of your fabrics stain-resistant? All of our performance fabrics will protect your sofas and chairs from spills and stains, giving peace of mind while your family and friends enjoy comfortable furniture. Available in performance linen, performance leather and solution-dyed Sunbrella® in countless colors, these dynamic fabrics make everyday living easier. For more details, see The Wonders of Performance Fabrics.
- What types of leathers do you offer for your furniture? All of the leathers in our special-order program are full-grain or top-grain natural cowhide and include the naturally occurring grain, making each piece truly unique. Our performance leathers are low-maintenance natural leathers that are specially finished to resist scratches, wear, fading and stains, making them well suited for high-use applications. Take a closer look at all of our leather options at Cover Your Furniture in the Finest Leathers.
- What type of wood is used in your furniture? All of our indoor furniture frames are durably constructed of kiln-dried hardwood. Kiln drying removes moisture, guarding against warping and cracking.
- Do your furniture pieces require assembly? Most of our upholstered items arrive assembled, or need only such simple assembly as screwing on the legs.

- Will your sofas eventually sag in the middle after long-term use? All kiln-dried hardwood frames are backed by an exceptional 10-year structural warranty. The heat-tempered, double-coil steel springs in most sofas are eight-way hand-tied, a time-intensive process employed by only the finest furniture makers. This creates extra stability and ensures that your sofa won’t sag in spots after a few years. The baffled down wrap on many of our high-density foam cushions also prevents sagging to one side. Unzipping the cover and refluffing the cushion’s interior will help maintain its shape over time.
- Can I flip or reverse the cushions on my sofa? This varies from item to item. Cushions upholstered in fabrics can be flipped and reversed. Cushions upholstered in leather cannot. Specific information about cushions can be found on each sofa’s description page.
- What types of cushions do you offer on your sofas and chairs? Our cushions feature high-density, high-resiliency foam. Many also include a baffled down wrap that prevents sagging to one side. Specific information about cushions can be found on the description page for each sofa or chair.
- What type of coils are used in your sofas and chairs? All our sofas and chairs are made with the industry’s best coils and are backed by our exceptional 10-year frame warranty. The type of coil used in each sofa and chair depends upon the design and weight of the frame itself. Most of our frames are larger profiles that feature heat-tempered, double-coil steel springs that are eight-way hand-tied. The lower-profile frames that we offer feature non-sag sinuous coil springs. Specific information for each frame can be found on each item’s description page.
- Can your sofas be reupholstered? Yes, however we recommend having a professional upholsterer look at your sofa and make the final decision. Please note that reupholstered sofas will no longer be covered under our warranty.

- Your Barrow Chesterfield collection looks similar to furniture sold by other companies. What is the difference? Employing centuries-old techniques, our bench-made Barrow sofas are constructed one at a time, entirely by hand. They feature eight-way hand-tied steel spring suspensions, feather- and down-wrapped cushions and a selection of beautifully tailored upholstery – including top-grain leathers, smooth velvets and easy-to-clean performance linens.
- What is tufting? Why should I choose a tufted sofa? Tufted fabric features buttons that are sewn through the cushion. Not only is this a traditional design element that adds decorative texture, but it also helps to anchor the cushion’s interior for added longevity.
- Why are there varying numbers of fabric options available between different upholstered items? In some cases, we feel certain fabric types or patterns don’t match well with a given item. Based on pattern repeats, widths and item construction, we’ve curated an offering that we feel best fits each frame.
