Outdoor Refresh with Erin Gates of Elements of Style

After a long winter of being cooped up inside, Erin Gates was ready to get outside. The founder of Boston-based Erin Gates Design and lifestyle blog Elements of Style had several spaces she wanted to update, and we teamed up with her to help create comfortable outdoor rooms where she could kick back with family and friends.

Patio Paradise

For her large patio area, Erin wanted to create a space that welcomed having a glass of wine with friends. Our Hampton Collection fit the bill.

“I decided I wanted to go really classic with the furniture on the patio,” Erin writes in her blog, “and so I went with this gorgeous resin wicker set that looks so much like real wicker, but is SUPER tough and durable. And SOOOOO comfortable. Everyone who sits on it comments on how amazingly comfortable it is.”

Gates tied the style together with accent pillows in tonal greens to add a touch of color. Our Calais Designer Umbrella keeps it all cool by providing extra shade.

Outdoor Lounging

For the lounge area on the patio, chaises were a must – as was a copper fire pit.

“I used these (Hampton) Chaises in the showhouse I did with Frontgate in Atlanta, and I’ve been dying to own them myself ever since!” Erin writes. “They are my happy spot now!”

She chose the cushions to complement the umbrella. “We’ve also used this firepit to make s’mores with (son) Henry and friends and it was a BIG hit,” she writes.

A few of our Solano Lanterns and Blue Ming Handpainted Ceramic Planters help further define the space.

Dining Alfresco

Erin carried the color palette from the patio onto the porch with our Paris Bistro Side Chairs and Classic Teak Expandable Dining Table.

“[I]t fits perfectly and allows us to expand the table with self-storing leaves, which I love,” she writes. “We added another big umbrella as there is no shade up on the deck. We also plan on staining the deck a more grey tone soon as well.”

We couldn’t love these spaces more. If you ever want to have us over for wine and light bites, we’ll be there, Erin!
